The update arrived in the early hours of 18 August, after being in beta testing since 10 August, and is available to users running iOS 26.6 or earlier through Settings, General, then Software Update.
Apple has also pushed out matching fixes for other platforms, including iPadOS 26.6.1, iOS 18.7.10, iPadOS 18.7.10, VisionOS 26.6.1 and macOS 26.6.2. The company describes the releases as security patches, but it has not yet published a full list of the vulnerabilities addressed. That caution matters because the previous iOS 26.6 release contained more than 75 security fixes, underlining how quickly Apple is closing off newly discovered risks.
The update arrives as security researchers warn that threats enabled by artificial intelligence are becoming more common, increasing the pressure on users to keep devices current. For most owners of compatible iPhones, the practical advice is straightforward: install the update as soon as possible.
