Eddie AI has launched a flexible pay-as-you-go pricing structure and an iPhone app, aiming to lower costs and enhance workflow integration for video editors seeking AI-assisted tools without fixed subscriptions.
Eddie AI has broadened its pitch to video editors with a new pay-as-you-go pricing model, removing the need for a monthly subscription and positioning the service as a more flexible option for lighter or intermittent use. The company says buyers can purchase credits as needed, with unused credits carrying over rather than expiring, and new accounts receive free starter credits. It claims the shift could make the service significantly cheaper for some users than a recurring plan. According to Eddie AI, the model is intended to suit editors who want access to AI-assisted pre-editing without committing to a fixed fee.
The platform is also moving closer to the rest of the AI workflow ecosystem. Eddie AI says it can now connect directly with ChatGPT and Claude as an MCP server, allowing users to work through an existing assistant rather than switching to a separate interface. In practice, that means the service can expose tools for transcripts, soundbites, rough assemblies, b-roll, captions, music, voiceover, multicam angles and export to non-linear editing software. The company says edits can return as playable cards with frames from the source footage, rather than as off-platform links.
Alongside the pricing changes, Eddie AI has launched an iPhone app. The app is designed to let users prompt an edit, review a finished cut in a gapless player, save the result as an MP4 or share it by link. Footage can be imported from the camera roll, Drive or Frame.io, and the company says notifications let users leave the job running in the background. It also says cloud projects are shared across web, desktop and phone, so work can continue without manual syncing.
That mobile release arrives in a crowded but still expanding part of the AI editing market: tools aimed at assisting, rather than replacing, the editor. The distinction matters. Rather than generating complete videos from scratch, products in this category focus on transcription, selection, assembly and delivery. Eddie AI is betting that editors will pay for that kind of workflow help if the cost is lower, the interfaces are familiar and the software fits into existing tools such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro.
