Google’s Gemini app has crossed a new milestone, with over 1 billion monthly active users, reflecting rapid growth and deeper integration into Android devices amid fierce AI competition.
Gemini has crossed a new threshold for Google, with Sundar Pichai saying the app now has more than 1 billion monthly active users. According to the company, that makes it Google’s 14th product to pass the mark. The figure is especially notable because it refers to the standalone Gemini app, rather than usage through other Google AI entry points.
Google has also released fresh usage data to underline the scale of the product. The company says 63% of Gemini users interact with the voice feature, while the app generates about 150 million AI images each day. Google also says Gemini has more than 100 million monthly active users on iOS.
The latest milestone follows a rapid rise over the past year. TechCrunch reported that Gemini had reached 950 million monthly active users in the second quarter of 2026, up from 750 million earlier in the year and roughly triple the level seen the year before. That earlier growth came alongside the rollout of newer models and more deeply integrated features across Google’s services.
The expansion also reflects Google’s wider push to make Gemini central to Android. The company has replaced Google Assistant with Gemini on Android devices, while also introducing newer model updates and features such as live screen sharing and real-time help. In a crowded AI market, the scale gives Google a stronger position against rivals, even as it continues to push both free and paid versions of the service.
