How to install Perplexity’s Comet AI browser on a Windows laptop

Perplexity’s Comet brings AI-powered search, summaries and answers from open tabs to the browser. Here is how to download and install it on a Windows laptop.

Comet Browser is Perplexity AI’s artificial intelligence-driven web browser, designed to make searching and reading online content more efficient. According to Perplexity’s official Comet page, the browser can generate summaries, answer questions from open tabs and support interactive search, while TechCrunch reported that the product was launched in July 2025 as part of Perplexity’s push to challenge conventional browsing and search habits.

Installing Comet on a laptop begins with opening a standard browser such as Chrome or Microsoft Edge and visiting Perplexity’s official Comet site. From there, the user should look for the download option and choose the version for Windows if it is offered. The installer is then saved to the device, ready for the next step.

Once the file has finished downloading, it should be opened from the Downloads folder in File Explorer. Windows may display a security prompt before installation begins, so users should confirm that the publisher and source are trustworthy before continuing. The installation wizard then guides the process through to completion.

After setup is finished, Comet can be launched from the desktop or the Start menu. Perplexity says the browser supports initial configuration options, and where available, users can import data from a previous browser and sign in to a Perplexity account for features that require authentication. Windows Central reported at launch that Comet was positioned as a more AI-centred alternative to browsers such as Chrome and Edge, with built-in search and assistant functions at its core.
