Meta expands Pocket to US, enabling users to build and share AI-driven interactive games

Meta is rolling out its experimental app Pocket across the US, allowing users to create and share small, interactive games built with AI prompts, marking a significant step in social AI content creation.

Meta is widening the release of Pocket, an experimental app that lets users build and share small interactive games with AI prompts. The service, which first surfaced quietly in Brazil last month, is now rolling out to users across the US, according to TechCrunch. It centres on “gizmos”, a term Meta uses for the prompt-generated creations that appear in a scrollable feed and can be saved, remixed or reposted by other users.

The app builds on Meta’s acquisition of the team behind Gizmo, the vibe-coded gaming platform it brought in earlier this year. According to the reporting, the resulting games can react to touch and to a phone’s tilt, play sound effects and incorporate music clips. They can also draw on photos from a user’s camera roll or access the camera itself, making the creations more personal than a standard text-to-game generator.

Pocket also fits into a broader push by Meta to make AI content creation feel more ordinary and more social. The company has already introduced AI image generation in its Meta AI app and an experimental video tool called Vibes, while chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has said improved AI software development is making it easier for Meta to launch new standalone apps quickly. Speaking on the company’s July earnings call, he said Meta expected to build out more ideas and use its recommendation systems to scale them.
