Microsoft has released a critical security patch addressing more than 420 bugs across Windows, Office, and cloud services, amid a surge in exploit discovery and AI-assisted vulnerability detection.
Microsoft has pushed out an urgent Windows security update after fixing more than 400 flaws across its software stack. According to a report cited by Lenta from ZDNet, the company said it had addressed 421 bugs and vulnerabilities and urged users to install the patches without delay.
The affected systems include Windows 11 25H2 and 24H2, Windows 11 23H2 and Windows 10. Microsoft also said the same patch round covered Office, Exchange, Azure and SharePoint. Security researchers at Action1 said one of the fixed vulnerabilities could have allowed an attacker to move from low-level access to SYSTEM privileges, the highest level on Windows, and then take control of a machine without the user noticing.
Users can install the update through Windows Settings by opening Windows Update, checking for the latest patch and starting the installation. Microsoft has repeatedly stressed that prompt patching is now essential because attackers are moving faster, while vulnerability discovery is also accelerating.
That broader trend has been visible in recent Patch Tuesday releases. Windows Central reported that Microsoft’s July 2026 update for Windows 11 fixed 570 vulnerabilities, while other coverage from PCWorld and TechRadar put the total even higher, reflecting how AI-assisted scanning is helping find far more bugs than in previous years. TechSpot also reported that the July update included zero-day flaws, underlining why Microsoft continues to press users to update quickly.
