Microsoft’s latest August update for Xbox introduces improved support for Xbox 360 titles, expanded store wishlist limits, and enhanced cloud-save controls, signalling a major push for better legacy and digital content management.
Microsoft has rolled out its August system update for Xbox consoles, with build 10.0.26100.9426 placing a clear emphasis on retrocompatibility, cloud-save control and store capacity. According to the company’s release notes, the update is designed to improve day-to-day use across the console interface while extending support for older Xbox 360 content and tightening the way players manage their game data.
One of the most visible changes concerns Xbox 360 titles. Microsoft has added game hubs for these classics and refined the indicators that show cloud-sync status. Players opening an installed Xbox 360 game now see more at a glance, including progress, screenshots and achievement details, with those achievements also surfacing in the main profile view. The company has also restored achievement history for older Windows Phone games, a small but notable addition for long-time users.
The update also gives players more direct control over cloud saves. Through the add-ons and game-data menu, users can review different versions of stored saves and restore an earlier state without relying on external tools. Microsoft says the feature is currently limited to Forza Horizon 6, with support for additional games planned later. Separately, Xbox Insiders have already seen related cloud-gaming changes that let eligible Game Pass subscribers launch a title through the cloud while an update downloads in the background, reducing downtime when large patches are installed, as GameSpot reported.
Microsoft is also widening the practical limits of its digital store. The wishlist cap has been lifted to 1,000 titles, allowing players to track far more current and upcoming releases directly from game cards. The library management screen now uses clearer visual markers to show which apps are active through a subscription. The company says the build also fixes a crash that could occur when browsing the games-and-apps section and resolves a keyboard bug that caused Chinese characters to appear on the screen keyboard when French Canada was selected. The update is now being distributed globally, so users can check availability through the system settings menu. Windows Central has separately reported that Microsoft is extending wishlist and store features across the Xbox app as well, suggesting a broader push to make game discovery and purchase flows more consistent across devices.
