NordVPN enhances its security and speed credentials with top independent tests

NordVPN has strengthened its reputation as a comprehensive privacy and performance provider after recent independent evaluations highlight its superior malware protection and fast, stable connections, reinforcing its position as a top choice for security-conscious users.

NordVPN has strengthened its pitch as a one-stop privacy and performance service after two independent assessments found that it combines strong malware blocking with fast, stable connections. TechRadar said the latest results support its view that NordVPN remains the best option for most users, particularly those who want security without a noticeable speed penalty.

West Coast Labs gave NordVPN’s built-in antivirus its highest AAA certification after the software detected 926 of 934 malware samples in testing, a 99.1% success rate. The assessment used the product’s default settings and found it passed all required lifecycle checks across deployment, functionality and removal. TechRadar also noted that NordVPN’s security tool had previously performed well in phishing tests, including a separate independent evaluation that found a 96% block rate with no false positives.

On performance, London-based Artifact Security ranked NordVPN first among five providers in its 2026 global test and awarded it the only Platinum score. The firm said NordVPN recorded an average download speed of 271.9 Mbps on Windows, reached a peak median of 568.4 Mbps and established a working tunnel in 1.8 seconds on average, with a 98% success rate. The report also found no leaks in IP, DNS, IPv6, WebRTC, server-switch or split-tunnelling tests.

NordVPN said the results reflect infrastructure improvements that users can feel in practice, especially when connecting from different regions. The company’s own speed claims point to strong performance for its NordLynx protocol on Windows and macOS, while broader reviews have continued to place the service among the fastest VPNs available. For buyers weighing privacy tools against everyday usability, the latest tests suggest NordVPN is still setting a high bar on both fronts.
