Picsart introduces cost-efficient Draft mode in Seedance 2.5 for faster AI video experimentation

Picsart’s new Draft mode in Seedance 2.5 offers creators a cheaper and faster way to preview AI-generated videos at lower resolutions before committing to a full-resolution render, significantly reducing costs and time during the creative process.

Picsart has added a Draft mode to Seedance 2.5 in its AI Playground, giving users a cheaper way to test an AI video before paying for a full-resolution render. The process is split into two stages: a low-cost 480p preview for experimentation, followed by a 1080p final version of the selected take. According to Picsart, the finished render preserves the same prompt, references and seed used in the preview, so the final shot keeps the approved composition and motion rather than generating a new interpretation.

The appeal is straightforward for anyone working with AI video: most of the creative uncertainty happens before a clip is ready. Users often need several attempts to judge whether a camera move reads clearly, whether a character lands an action properly, or whether a scene holds together over time. Picsart says Draft mode is designed to make that iterative stage less expensive, because users can re-roll previews without paying full price each time. On a five-second clip, the company says a preview costs 20 credits, compared with 90 credits for the final 1080p render.

Picsart says the savings can add up quickly. In its explanation of the feature, the company said that around twenty preview attempts followed by one final render can cost up to 77% less than producing twenty full-resolution videos. It also said the process is nearly twice as fast. Similar figures have been reported elsewhere, although one account framed the savings differently, putting them at 57% in typical multi-round sampling scenarios. The common point across those descriptions is that Draft mode shifts the cost burden away from early experimentation and onto the single take users decide to keep.

The workflow is built to stay close to the original preview. Seedance 2.5 users can switch Draft mode on from the model picker in AI Playground, where resolution drops to 480p until the setting is turned off. Picsart says the preview appears as a real video file, not a static mock-up, with downloadable MP4 output and support for multiple aspect ratios, including formats suited to both widescreen and vertical social video. Each draft also carries its own details panel, which makes it easier to compare multiple attempts without losing track of the settings behind them.

Picsart positions the feature as most useful in work where the first output is rarely the final one. That includes product clips, short-form marketing videos and cinematic scenes, where creators may want to refine motion, framing or timing before committing to the finished version. The company also says Seedance 2.5 itself is designed for longer, more controlled generation, with support for continuous clips of up to 30 seconds, multiple references and dialogue in several languages. Draft mode does not change those capabilities so much as make them more economical to use.
