ACTIVO revives popular Scoop in black finish to capitalise on wired earphone resurgence

ACTIVO introduces a black finish version of its acclaimed Scoop in-ear monitors, maintaining its versatile design and competitive £99 price, amid a renewed interest in wired audio solutions.

ACTIVO has added a black finish to its Scoop in-ear monitors, keeping the same five-driver hybrid design, interchangeable cable system and £99 price as the original model. The company says the new version was introduced in response to demand, and it arrives as wired earphones regain attention among listeners who value direct connection, longer service life and no need to charge a battery.

The Scoop remains unusual for its price. It can be used with USB-C, 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced connections, which makes it suitable for phones, laptops, handheld gaming devices and digital audio players. The balanced output is especially relevant for higher-end portable players, where it can help improve separation between channels and reduce background noise. Reviewers at TechRadar and Macworld said the model offers strong value for money, with sound that is balanced, detailed and capable of clear instrument separation.

ACTIVO has also kept the acoustic design intact. The earphones use three dynamic drivers and two balanced armature drivers, with one 8mm unit and two 6mm units forming the low-frequency side of the system. That layout is intended to produce a full bass response without losing clarity in the upper range. The shell follows the brand’s polished, pebble-like styling, which multiple reviews described as comfortable, though some noted that the physical size may not suit every ear shape.

Alongside the black edition, the package includes silicone and memory-foam ear tips in three sizes, plus a travel pouch. The cable is a seven-core braided design using silver-plated copper and oxygen-free copper wiring. The Scoop Black is available now through Amazon and ACTIVO UK, keeping the product in the sub-£100 bracket that has helped it stand out in a crowded wired audio market.
