Amaran enters audio market with versatile $99 microphone targeting creators

Amaran, known for its continuous lighting kits, launches its first microphone, offering wireless, noise-cancellation, and customisable controls designed for podcasters, livestreamers, gamers and video creators.

Amaran, a brand better known for continuous lighting kits, has moved into audio with its first microphone: a $99 desktop model aimed at podcasters, livestreamers, gamers and video creators. The company says the Amaran Mic is intended to fit into creator setups with minimal fuss, offering both wired USB-C use and wireless operation through a USB-C receiver.

The microphone centres on a 30mm capsule and is specified with an 86dB signal-to-noise ratio and a maximum sound pressure level of 130dB. Amaran also includes a limiter to help prevent clipping when voices or effects become abruptly louder. Battery life is rated at up to 60 hours, while wireless range is listed at up to 50 metres in unobstructed conditions.

A key selling point is the built-in noise reduction system. Users can switch between Original Sound, Standard and AI Noise Reduction, allowing them to choose between a more natural capture and heavier suppression of background noise. Amaran says the processing combines several layers of acoustic and digital filtering to keep speech intelligible while reducing unwanted sound.

The mic can also be adjusted through the Amaran Desktop App, where users can select EQ presets or build custom settings. Additional tools include Vocal Enhancement, Noise Gate and Limiter controls, giving creators more direct control without adding an external audio interface. The launch comes as rivals including Saramonic, Neewer and BOYA are also pushing AI-assisted wireless and desktop microphones, many of them highlighting similar features such as noise cancellation, limiter controls and creator-friendly presets.
