Amaran launches the amaran Mic, a $99 wireless desktop microphone designed for streamers and podcasters, offering studio-quality sound and AI noise reduction in a competitive market.
Amaran has entered the audio market with the launch of the amaran Mic, a $99 wireless desktop microphone aimed at streamers, podcasters and other desk-based creators. The company, best known for lighting, says the product is designed to deliver studio-grade sound with built-in AI noise reduction and a simple setup that works either wired or wirelessly.
At the centre of the microphone is a 30mm dynamic capsule paired with a supercardioid pickup pattern, which is intended to focus on the speaker in front of the mic while reducing sound from the sides. Amaran says the microphone also includes an automatic limiter, an 86dB signal-to-noise ratio and support for sound pressure levels up to 130dB, features meant to reduce clipping when voices get louder.
The mic’s noise-reduction system runs on the device itself rather than relying on a computer, which is important for users recording in everyday rooms rather than treated studios. According to amaran, creators can switch between Original Sound, Standard Noise Reduction and AI Noise Reduction, depending on how much cleaning is needed. That puts the model in a crowded creator-audio market where rivals including Shure and Insta360 are pushing compact systems with more advanced app controls, different polar patterns and mobile-friendly designs.
Amaran is also trying to make the microphone easier to live with at a desk. It can connect by USB-C or through a pre-paired 2.4GHz receiver, with claimed wireless range of up to 50 metres in clear conditions and battery life of up to 60 hours. On-mic controls allow users to change gain, monitor volume, mute the microphone and switch noise-reduction modes without opening software. More advanced tuning is available through the amaran Desktop App, while optional low-profile boom-arm accessories are due to ship in the fourth quarter of 2026. The desktop stand kit is available now, with the boom-arm kit priced at $125 and the arm alone at $49.
