Audio-Technica’s new control app streamlines microphone management for live creators

Audio-Technica has launched a Stream Deck plug-in enabling direct control of select 20 Series USB microphones, promising streamlined operations for streamers and audio professionals.

Audio-Technica has released a new Stream Deck plug-in that gives users direct control over selected 20 Series USB microphones from Elgato’s hardware and software ecosystem. The 20 Series Control Application is aimed at streamers, podcasters, gamers and audio professionals who want quicker access to core microphone functions without reaching for on-screen menus or separate control panels.

The plug-in supports the AT2020USB-X, AT2020USB-XP and AT2040USB. According to Audio-Technica’s announcement and Elgato’s product page, users can assign mute and unmute commands, adjust input level and, on the AT2020USB-XP, manage Automatic Gain Control and Noise Reduction. Elgato says the interface uses a drag-and-drop system, so functions can be mapped to keys, dials or foot pedals to suit different recording or streaming setups.

The control options are designed to make live operation more practical. Instant mute and unmute can be tied to a foot pedal for hands-free use, while a virtual fader provides direct level adjustment from the Stream Deck surface. On the AT2020USB-XP, Automatic Gain Control is intended to keep output levels steady when speech volume changes, while Noise Reduction offers several suppression settings for different recording environments.

For creators working across live broadcasts, podcasts and home studios, the appeal is less about adding new microphone features than about reducing friction in everyday use. By bringing familiar audio controls into the Stream Deck workflow, Audio-Technica is positioning its USB microphones as part of a broader production system rather than isolated devices.
