AV Access introduces the iDock B10, a versatile KVM docking station designed to simplify switching between work and gaming devices while supporting high-end displays and fast performance, despite some limitations in monitor switching.
AV Access is positioning its iDock B10 as a way to simplify the increasingly crowded desks of people who split time between work and gaming. In a feature published by Pocket Gamer, the company said the KVM dock is designed to let users move between a desktop PC and a laptop without the usual mess of constant cable swapping, while also supporting high-end display setups for gamers who want to use the same workspace for both productivity and play.
According to AV Access, the device was tested in a dual-system arrangement that included a Windows gaming PC, an HP business laptop, two 4K 165Hz monitors and shared peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, headset, network connection and USB storage. The company says the dock handled dual 4K output at 165Hz with NVIDIA G-SYNC enabled on a desktop built around an Intel Core i7-13700K and an RTX 4080, without display blackouts, signal loss or USB disconnects during the test. AV Access also says the same setup remained stable when the dock was used with an HP ProBook 440 G8 over a single USB-C connection.
The company’s own product pages and review material describe the iDock B10 as an 8K dual-monitor KVM docking station with support for several other display combinations, including single-screen gaming at up to 1080p 240Hz or 1440p 165Hz, plus dual 8K 60Hz output with compatible DisplayPort 2.0 cables. AV Access says the dock also offers up to 100W USB-C power delivery, 10Gbps USB ports, Gigabit Ethernet sharing, an SDXC card reader, 3.5mm audio and additional USB expansion ports.
One limitation AV Access acknowledges is the lack of EDID emulation, which means monitors briefly reconnect when switching between systems. Even so, the company says the displays return within a few seconds and the wired remote switch removes the need to reach behind a desk each time. Taken together, the pitch is straightforward: for anyone juggling a work laptop and a gaming rig, the iDock B10 is meant to cut down on cable clutter while preserving high-refresh-rate performance.
