Baseus launches futuristic open-ear earbuds with adaptive noise cancellation and AI features

Baseus has unveiled the MC2 NC, a pair of open-ear wireless earbuds featuring active noise cancellation, a striking futuristic design, and advanced AI-powered functionalities, set to challenge traditional in-ear models in China with a potential global rollout.

Baseus has unveiled the MC2 NC, an unusual pair of wireless earbuds that combine an open-ear clip-on design with active noise cancellation. The model has launched in China, where it is priced at 783 yuan, about R$583 at current exchange rates, and it is aimed at users who want the ear canal left unobstructed without giving up noise reduction. According to Canaltech, the design is one of the most striking elements of the product, with a futuristic profile that looks more like a wearable accessory than a conventional earbud.

Rather than using standard in-ear tips, the MC2 NC rests on the side of the ear with a C-shaped frame. Baseus says the structure is designed to improve stability while keeping the canal open, and the company has paired it with a hollow internal frame and a four-point support system to improve comfort. Each earbud weighs 5.9 grams, and the silicone cushions are removable, washable and supplied in four sizes. The device is also rated IP67, giving it protection against dust and immersion in water.

The noise-cancellation system is the most technically unusual part of the product. Baseus says the earbuds combine passive isolation from the silicone cushions with adaptive processing that takes account of ear shape and the surrounding environment, claiming reductions of up to 50 dB. Ubergizmo reported in September that the same model was shown at IFA 2026 with a slightly lower claimed figure of up to 45 dB, suggesting that the company has refined or described the feature differently across launch announcements. Either way, the challenge is the same: suppressing background noise without sealing the ear canal.

On the audio side, the MC2 NC uses 12 mm carbon-fibre dynamic drivers and supports LDAC, alongside Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. Baseus has also added Mimi hearing technology, which analyses a listener’s frequency sensitivity to build a tailored sound profile. The companion app includes AI-powered transcription, real-time assistance and translation in 21 languages. Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 6.0 with simultaneous connection to two devices, and the company claims up to 60 hours of battery life with the charging case. While Canaltech says Baseus has not yet announced an international release date, Ubergizmo reported that the earbuds were expected to reach consumer markets in October 2026, indicating that a wider rollout may follow the Chinese debut.
