Due to compatibility restrictions, Blink cameras owners are turning to alternatives like Google Nest and Arlo, as official integration with Google Home remains limited and workarounds prove unreliable.
Blink cameras do not natively integrate with Google Home, according to Ballen Vegas. That remains the central limitation for users who want one app, one voice assistant and direct camera control. Because Blink is owned by Amazon, the system is designed around Alexa rather than Google’s smart-home platform, which means there is no official Blink app or Google Home skill that adds full support.
There are still partial workarounds. DeviceMag and Acciyo both say IFTTT can act as a bridge for limited voice control, mainly for arming and disarming Blink systems through Google Assistant. However, that approach does not provide live video inside Google Home, and the free IFTTT tier is now too restricted for many households because it allows only a small number of active applets. The Ballen Vegas article also notes that Samsung SmartThings can sit between Blink and Google Home, but only if a user is willing to buy and manage an additional hub.
What no longer appears to be a viable route is the older Zapier-and-Google Assistant method. Ballen Vegas says that path has been closed off since Google ended its Conversational Actions API in 2023, and Zapier has said it has no plan to restore the integration. That makes the present-day situation much less flexible than older guides suggest.
For buyers who want native Google Home support, the practical alternatives are clearer. Ballen Vegas points to Google Nest for the smoothest experience, since it supports live view, two-way talk and voice control inside Google Home without workarounds. Arlo remains another established option with long-standing Google Home support, while newer compatibility for brands such as Wyze, Eufy, TP-Link Tapo, Reolink and Nanit gives budget-conscious buyers more choice. Ballen Vegas also cautions that Ring is not much better than Blink in this respect, because it is also owned by Amazon and offers only limited Google Home functionality.
