COLORFUL has entered the GaN charger market with the iGame Guard G114, a 140W multi-port adapter aimed at desktop users, gaming rigs and travellers who want to replace several power bricks with one unit. According to the company’s announcement, it is the first GaN charging product in the firm’s lineup and will debut in China before a wider international launch follows.
The device is built around a 3C1A layout, giving it three USB-C ports and one USB-A port. COLORFUL says the C1 and C2 USB-C connections can each deliver up to 140W under USB PD 3.1 Extended Power Range, while the remaining USB-C port and the USB-A port are rated at up to 30W apiece. The company also lists supported combinations such as 100W plus 30W, 65W plus 45W plus 18W, and 100W plus 7.5W plus 7.5W, which should make the charger more useful when several devices are drawing power at once.
The charger measures 61 x 72 x 33.2mm and is finished in a matte coating that COLORFUL says is intended to resist scratches, fingerprints and yellowing. Reports from TechNetBooks and GameHaunt add that the unit uses a folding two-prong plug and a wall-mounted design to reduce tilting when installed directly in a socket. That matters for a charger of this power level, where cable weight and poor balance can otherwise cause movement or loosening over time.
A small integrated display is one of the more unusual features. COLORFUL says the screen, branded as the iGame Display, shows total output, per-port power, accumulated usage time and temperature status. The company also says the charger uses PFC, AHB and high-frequency GaN technology inside a roughly 145 cubic centimetre chassis, with the aim of improving power conversion efficiency while limiting heat and switching losses.
Compatibility appears broad. COLORFUL says the charger supports 100V to 240V input and charging protocols including PD 3.1, PPS, QC, SCP, FCP and AFC, and claims testing across more than 200 devices. TechNetBooks reports additional safeguards for short circuits, overvoltage, overcurrent and power surges, while GameHaunt notes temperature sensors sampling at 20 frames per second to help the charger adjust thermally in use. The suggested retail price is CNY 199, or about US$29.90, which places it in a competitive bracket for a 140W four-port GaN charger.
