At Tokyo’s LIFORK AKIHABARA II, Elecom reveals the M-VM800BK, claiming to be the first wireless gaming mouse utilising ultra-wideband and an 8,000Hz polling rate, promising increased stability and low latency for gamers.
ASCII is using its Tokyo gaming PC event this autumn to showcase a mouse that places unusual weight on wireless stability and input speed. The Elecom M-VM800BK, which the company says will be on display at “TOKYO Gaming-PC STREET 9 in LIFORK AKIHABARA II” on 10 October, is built for readers who want to test hardware in person rather than judge it from a specification sheet. According to ASCII, the event will run from 13:00 to 17:30 and will be free to attend.
The M-VM800BK stands out because Elecom has moved away from the usual 2.4GHz wireless design and instead uses ultra-wideband, or UWB. Notebookcheck and TechSpot both reported that the company is presenting it as the first wireless gaming mouse to combine UWB with a true 8,000Hz polling rate. Elecom says the broader frequency band, roughly 20 times wider than 2.4GHz, is intended to improve resistance to interference and make the connection more stable in crowded radio environments.
Inside the mouse is a PixArt PAW3950 sensor, which Elecom says can reach up to 30,000DPI, 750 inches per second of tracking speed and 50G acceleration. The company also says the polling rate is maintained at 8,000Hz across the full transmission path, not just within the mouse itself, which is the basis for its “True8K” branding. That specification is aimed at players who prioritise very low latency, although the practical benefit will depend on the rest of the system and the game being played.
According to Elecom’s product page, the mouse will be sold in two sizes, with a medium model weighing about 59 grams and a large version at about 64 grams. PC Gamer reported a Japanese retail price of ¥19,980. ASCII is positioning the device as one of several gaming peripherals visitors can handle directly at LIFORK Akihabara II, where the editorial team says attendees will be able to compare mice, keyboards and headsets, ask questions on site and try products without any obligation to buy.
