Essence For Hi-Res Audio has launched the Earis Premium, a wireless personal TV audio system aimed at viewers who want clearer speech, separate volume control and a more intimate listening experience than a television’s built-in speakers can provide. The company is pitching it as a premium alternative to soundbars and conventional multi-channel systems for people who prefer to hear programmes at their own level without affecting everyone else in the room.
The product sits in the growing category of personal listening systems, but it is positioned with a more audiophile feel than many rival solutions. According to Humantechnik’s product information, the Earis Premium uses personalised sound optimisation, includes a balance adjustment for uneven hearing and offers five dynamic sound programmes tuned for different television content. The system also includes a communication mode that can amplify environmental sounds, broadening its use beyond programme audio.
At the heart of the system is a lightweight under-chin receiver with its own DAC and headphone amplifier, driven over a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless link rather than standard Bluetooth. Essence says the design is intended to preserve dialogue, music, ambience and effects with better timing and clarity for television use. The receiver supports independent left-right balance adjustment, and a single transmitter can feed two receivers, making it practical for couples or shared viewing.
The specification sheet sets out a stereo-only system with 24-bit/48kHz PCM input, optical digital and analogue connections, latency of under 47ms and a quoted transmission range of more than 70 metres. Battery life is stated at up to nine hours, with charging handled by the transmitter base. Essence also says the system can be used alongside a powered subwoofer, allowing users to keep some low-frequency impact in the room while listening privately through the headset.
Price will be a key factor. At $699, the Earis Premium is substantially more expensive than many established TV-listening products from Sennheiser, which has long dominated the category with lower-priced options focused on dialogue enhancement and everyday convenience. Essence is betting that buyers who care about stereo imaging, hearing balance and fuller-range sound will pay more for a system that sits between a hearing aid accessory and a compact home-cinema setup. The company says US shipping is due to begin on 25 August 2026.
