FiiO’s Snowsky Echo Nano revitalises retro portable music with modern hi-fi features

FiiO’s lifestyle sub-brand Snowsky unveils the Echo Nano, a compact, retro-inspired music player packed with modern hi-fi components and versatile storage, targeting nostalgic listeners seeking offline audio simplicity.

FiiO’s lifestyle sub-brand Snowsky has added another retro-minded product to its growing audio line-up with the Echo Nano, a pocket-sized music player built for listeners who want a separate device rather than another app on a smartphone. What Hi-Fi? reported that the model is aimed squarely at the early 2000s portable player crowd, but with modern hi-fi components and storage flexibility.

At the centre of the device is a Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC, a digital-to-analogue converter that handles the audio signal before it reaches wired headphones. According to What Hi-Fi?, the Echo Nano supports WAV, FLAC, MP3 and MQA files, and accepts a microSD card of up to 256GB. The player is also designed to work as a USB DAC, allowing it to improve the audio output from phones and laptops when used with a cable.

The hardware is deliberately stripped back. Snowsky says the Echo Nano weighs about 34g and uses a machined aluminium-magnesium alloy body, a metal scroll wheel and a 1-inch OLED display. Notebookcheck’s leak suggested a similarly compact form factor with physical playback controls and a 3.5mm headphone jack, underlining that the design is meant for simple offline listening rather than a feature-heavy smart interface. Headfonia’s earlier review of the related Echo model described Snowsky’s approach as one that favours a tactile, retro style and solid build quality over complexity.

Battery life is rated at up to seven hours, which is modest by current smartphone standards but in line with the player’s minimalist purpose. The Echo Nano is available now in seven colourways and costs £55 in the UK and $50 in the US. Snowsky has also introduced the Nature wireless headphones alongside it, priced at £39 or $39, extending the same nostalgia-led design language into over-ear audio.
