IKEA’s Västmärke wireless charger proves that low-cost accessories can deliver strong value and certification

IKEA’s Västmärke wireless charging stand, retailing at just £9 in the UK, is recognised for its solid performance and Qi2 certification, challenging the notion that affordability compromises quality in tech accessories.

IKEA’s Västmärke wireless charging stand is a reminder that the cheapest accessories are not always the weakest. In a review for Tom’s Guide, the stand was described as one of the most convincing low-cost Qi2 chargers yet, especially in the UK where it sells for £9, or roughly $12. That compares with $30 in the US, which is still competitive for a certified magnetic charger, though no longer quite the bargain it is in Britain.

The appeal is not in premium materials. IKEA’s own product page says the stand is made from cork and plastic, with a built-in 47-inch USB-C cable and support for both horizontal and vertical phone placement. Tom’s Guide noted that the design looks modest rather than luxurious, but that the construction is practical and the rubber base helps keep the unit stable during use.

What separates Västmärke from many budget chargers is Qi2 certification. According to Tom’s Guide, that means it uses magnetic alignment to place compatible phones correctly on the charging coil, improving efficiency and consistency. The reviewer reported that the stand worked as expected with a Pixel 11 Pro XL and an iPhone 17 Pro Max, including their always-on display modes, and measured charging behaviour broadly in line with a 15W Qi2 device.

There is a limit, however. Tom’s Guide said the stand tops out at 15W, so it will not fully exploit phones that can handle faster Qi2 charging. Heat also remains part of the wireless charging trade-off. Even so, the review concluded that the Västmärke offers unusually strong value for money, particularly in the UK, where stock appears to move quickly and availability may be the real challenge.
