Loewe Neo brings 50W sound and custom lighting to a £400 portable speaker

Loewe’s Neo combines 50W output, IP67 protection and up to 12 hours of battery life with an aluminium finish, interchangeable grilles and built-in ambient lighting.

Loewe has unveiled the Neo, a portable Bluetooth speaker that places design as firmly at the centre as sound. According to What Hi-Fi?, the German brand is positioning it as a premium product that combines high output with a highly finished exterior, while keeping the format suitable for travel and outdoor use. The company says the speaker is intended to deliver strong acoustic performance without forcing buyers to give up portability.

The specification is generous for a compact wireless model. Loewe says the Neo produces 50 watts of total power and uses dual passive bass radiators to strengthen low frequencies. The speaker is rated IP67 for resistance to dust and water, and it is said to offer up to 12 hours of battery life. That puts it in line with other serious premium portables, but the emphasis here is as much on finish and feature set as on raw output. What Hi-Fi? notes that the Neo will cost £400 or €400, making it dearer than JBL’s five-star Xtreme 5.

Loewe has also given the Neo a more distinctive visual identity than most rivals. The speaker uses an aluminium enclosure, interchangeable grilles and built-in ambient lighting, with the illumination adjusted through a strip on the unit itself. Top-mounted controls handle power, bass, treble and lighting, while the accompanying app adds further customisation, including three sound presets and manual adjustments to bass and treble. Alpha Audio and MusicTech both report that the design is intended to be as much a lifestyle object as a conventional speaker.

The launch also includes practical extras that reinforce the premium positioning. Loewe supplies a detachable leather carry strap and a felt case, while Auracast support allows the Neo to link with other compatible speakers. In a statement quoted by What Hi-Fi?, chief executive Aslan Khabliev said the product brings together “exceptional acoustic power, intelligent lighting, and unprecedented customisation in one beautifully crafted product”. Pre-orders begin on 20 November, with colour options including Alu Silver, Alu Black and a limited-edition Champagne finish.
