Logitech unveils the MX Keypad, a customisable, AI-integrated control surface designed to streamline developer workflows across multiple coding and command-line tools, including GitHub Copilot and VS Code.
Logitech has launched the MX Keypad, a programmable desktop control surface aimed at developers who now split time between code editors, command-line tools and AI assistants. The company says the device is designed to reduce context switching by putting commonly used prompts, actions and workflow commands on dedicated physical keys.
According to Logitech’s announcement, the keypad supports cross-application use and can be configured for tasks such as running macros, refactoring code and triggering saved prompts across tools including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA. The launch version also includes native integration with GitHub, VS Code and the GitHub Copilot app, with further support planned later.
The product arrives with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted development. Logitech says it has worked closely with GitHub on the device, and every unit includes three free months of GitHub Copilot Pro+, redeemable through Logi Options+ for both new and existing users. GitHub’s developer relations team said the aim is to make Copilot feel less like a separate tool and more like part of the normal development flow.
Customisation is central to the pitch. Logitech says the Logi Actions SDK allows developers to build their own integrations, while the Logi Marketplace already offers community plugins for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. The company also claims its AI-friendly documentation can help coding agents generate integrations directly from the SDK.
The hardware itself is modest and sustainability is part of the message. The Graphite model uses 64% certified post-consumer recycled plastic, while Pale Grey contains 49%, and the packaging is sourced from FSC-certified and other controlled materials. Logitech is selling the MX Keypad in select markets from 8 September 2026 for $99.99 in the US and €99.99 in Europe, positioning it as a more focused alternative to its larger MX Creative Console.
