Matech unveils ultra-compact PowerNano power banks with dedicated Apple Watch charging

Matech expands its PowerNano line with two pocket-sized power banks featuring integrated USB-C and dedicated Apple Watch charging, targeting commuters and travellers seeking convenience and compactness.

MATECH has expanded its PowerNano line with two pocket-sized power banks designed for people who want to charge a phone or watch without carrying separate cables. The PowerNano 5000 and PowerNano Watch 5000 both use an integrated USB-C connector, and MATECH is selling them through its official Amazon.co.jp store with a 20% points-back promotion running until 11 October. The launch price is ¥3,990 for the standard model and ¥4,590 for the version aimed at Apple Watch users. According to ASCII and MATECH’s release materials, the products are intended for commuting, school and travel use, where compactness matters as much as capacity.

Both units carry a 5,000mAh battery rated at 18.25Wh and support up to 22.5W output over USB-C, with pass-through charging so the battery pack can be recharged while it is also charging a connected device. Impress Watch reported that the USB-C plug uses a 180-degree swing structure, which should reduce mechanical stress when the connector is folded away. MATECH says the PowerNano 5000 can charge up to three devices at once, while the PowerNano Watch 5000 can handle up to four, albeit with a combined maximum output of 15W across those connections. The company also states that both models can act as a USB-C power source and accept input at up to 9V/2A.

The Apple Watch model is the more specialised of the two. It includes a dedicated wireless charging pad for Apple Watch, which means the user does not need to remove the strap to top up the watch. That matters because, as guidance from watch-charging specialists notes, Apple Watch charging depends on a magnetically aligned charging interface rather than a generic flat wireless pad. The PowerNano Watch 5000 also adds a rear stand, making it more suitable for video viewing or video calls while charging.

In physical terms, the two models are closely matched. MATECH lists the PowerNano 5000 at about 108g and the PowerNano Watch 5000 at about 113g, with both measuring roughly 78mm wide, 37.4mm high and 28.6mm deep. Colour options are limited to silver and black. Taken together, the specifications place the pair in the growing segment of highly portable battery packs that trade raw capacity for convenience, direct connection and fewer accessories.
