Meizu’s Pandaer brand introduces the compact PTC16, an 80W GaN charger offering multi-device fast charging in a lightweight design, challenging larger, bulkier rivals for portable convenience.
Meizu’s Pandaer brand has released a compact 80W GaN charger that aims to combine high output with an unusually light chassis. According to Notebookcheck, the PTC16 is priced at 229 yuan, or about €28, with promotional vouchers lowering that to below €20. Despite the modest cost, the company is pitching it as a premium travel-friendly option for users who want multi-device charging without much bulk.
The charger measures 85.5mm by 50mm by 13.9mm and weighs 99g. Pandaer says the internal layout uses a three-layer “Air” stacking structure, borrowed from smartphone engineering, to keep the unit thin and light. Meizuworld’s product material for an earlier Pandaer 80W GaN charger describes the wider design language as compact, square and practical, with a foldable plug and CCC safety certification, suggesting the brand is trying to balance portability with basic electrical safeguards.
The PTC16 has three USB-C ports, but its output depends on how many are in use. When only one port is connected, the main USB-C socket can deliver up to 80W through Meizu’s mCharge protocol or up to 65W via PD 3.0 and PPS. The other two ports can each reach 65W on their own. With two devices attached, power is split at either 45W and 20W or 45W and 15W, while all three ports active reduce the main output to 45W and the others to 15W each.
Protocol support is broad, covering mCharge, PD 3.0, PPS, AVS, FCP, SCP and QC 4+. Notebookcheck said the charger accepts 200V to 240V at 50/60Hz and draws up to 1.8A, which limits it to markets with that mains range. The PTC16 is already on sale through Pandaer’s official Tmall store, putting it into direct competition with a wider field of 80W GaN chargers from brands such as Momax, though many of those models use larger bodies or a mixed USB-C and USB-A layout.
