ORICO has launched a 2.5-inch all-flash SSD enclosure aimed at video editors and on-site production teams, positioning it as the company’s first RAID-capable model in this format. The device uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface and is rated for transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, which ORICO says is intended to accelerate large file transfers and project handling in media workflows.
The enclosure supports multiple RAID configurations, giving users a choice between speed and redundancy. According to ORICO’s product information, the system offers RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 3, RAID 5, RAID 10, JBOD and a CLEAR mode for separate drive recognition. That range is broader than the more commonly advertised RAID sets on many compact creator storage devices, and it reflects a focus on flexible deployment rather than a single fixed use case.
ORICO says the enclosure includes two USB 3.2 ports and SD and TF card slots, allowing footage to be copied directly from cards and other devices without relying on a laptop’s limited port selection. The company also says the unit supports 7mm to 9.5mm 2.5-inch SSDs and hard drives, with up to 8TB per bay. In larger configurations, ORICO claims the system can be expanded to 40TB internally, with daisy-chaining allowing as much as 120TB across three connected units.
The company is also highlighting portability as a key selling point. ORICO says the enclosure is more than 50% smaller in volume than a typical 3.5-inch hard drive case and uses a fully solid-state design with no moving parts, which it says improves shock resistance during transport in camera bags or backpacks. The product is being marketed to creators who need a compact backup and working-storage option that can travel easily between set, studio and edit suite.
