RISION has announced pre-orders for the Magic Pro, a compact USB-C thermal camera offering higher resolution and multi-zone analysis, transforming smartphones, tablets, and Windows PCs into versatile inspection tools for professionals and enthusiasts alike.
RISION has begun taking pre-orders for the Magic Pro, a compact USB-C thermal camera that is intended to turn compatible smartphones, tablets and Windows PCs into portable inspection tools. The company positions it as the more capable model in its Magic range, keeping the battery-free 24-gram design of the standard unit while adding a higher-resolution sensor and broader measurement and reporting functions.
At the centre of the upgrade is a native 256 x 192 thermal sensor, which RISION says is lifted to 512 x 384 through its QuadIR processing system. The company says that extra detail is most useful in dense working environments, including electrical panels, HVAC pipework and concealed plumbing, where small temperature differences can be difficult to separate from surrounding objects.
The Magic Pro is also built for multi-zone analysis, allowing users to track several targets at once and set temperature thresholds across a scene. RISION says this is useful for checking breakers in an electrical board, comparing supply and return temperatures in HVAC work, or monitoring bearings, motors and brake discs in mechanical and automotive settings. It also includes AI BiSpectrix dual-spectrum fusion, which overlays thermal data with visible-light imagery to preserve visual context. Radiometric photos and video are supported, as is one-tap PDF reporting for inspection records.
Other stated specifications include a thermal sensitivity of no more than 40 mK, a 25 Hz refresh rate, a measurement range from -20C to 600C and accuracy of plus or minus 2%. Because it draws power through USB-C, there is no separate battery, although that also means the device depends on the host machine during use. RISION says the Magic Pro is aimed at electricians, HVAC technicians, energy auditors, maintenance teams, automotive users and technically minded homeowners who need more than a basic heat-map accessory.
Pricing places the device in the lower end of professional inspection hardware. RISION says the Magic Pro carries a $299 recommended retail price, with pre-orders at $219 after a $10 deposit until 28 September 2026. Open sales on the company’s website and Amazon are due on the same date. UK availability is scheduled for 13 October, with pricing set at £359 MSRP or £269 during the early-bird period, and early buyers are being offered a three-year total warranty.
