SanDisk introduces the Extreme Fit USB-C, a nearly invisibly small flash drive designed for permanent attachment to laptops, tablets, and desktops, offering up to 1TB of portable storage with fast transfer speeds.
SanDisk has introduced a tiny USB-C flash drive aimed at users who want storage that can remain attached to a laptop, tablet or desktop without getting in the way. The Extreme Fit USB-C follows a “plug-and-stay” design, with the company positioning it as a near-permanent expansion for devices that need extra capacity rather than a drive that is routinely removed and carried separately.
The company says the device measures 1.85cm by 1.37cm by 1.60cm and weighs about 2.8g, making it, in its view, the smallest USB drive in its class. Canaltech reported that the compact size was made possible by proprietary engineering, including the brand’s smallest system-in-package design and a vertical USB-C connector built on a custom circuit board. SanDisk said the development process required several prototypes before the drive was durable enough for production.
On specifications, SanDisk says the Extreme Fit USB-C is available in capacities from 64GB to 1TB, with the top model offering USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds of up to 400MB/s on the 128GB to 1TB versions. The company also says it includes access to its Memory Zone app for file management and backup on Windows and Mac machines. According to the product listing, the drive is compatible with USB-C devices and is intended to make transfers between phones and computers simpler.
Pricing varies by capacity. Canaltech said the 64GB version costs about $30, while the 1TB model is priced at roughly $219, though the publication noted there is no confirmed launch in Brazil. SanDisk’s positioning puts the drive in a growing niche: compact, leave-in storage for people who want extra local capacity without relying entirely on cloud services or carrying a full-size external SSD.
