SanDisk has introduced the NAS 600 and NAS 800, offering prosumers and small businesses a choice between high-endurance SATA storage and faster PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives.
SanDisk has expanded its NAS-focused storage line-up with two SSD families aimed at always-on network-attached storage systems: the SATA-based NAS 600 and the NVMe-based NAS 800. According to the company, both ranges are designed for prosumers and small businesses that need a balance of speed, endurance and compatibility in multi-user storage environments.
The NAS 600 is a 2.5-inch SATA drive with a 7mm profile and capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB. SanDisk says the top-capacity model delivers sequential read speeds of up to 560MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 520MB/s. It is also rated at up to 2,500TBW, with a mean time to failure of up to 2.25 million hours and a five-year limited warranty, which places it squarely in the category of endurance-focused storage rather than high-throughput cache drives.
The NAS 800 targets more demanding NAS deployments and uses the M.2 2280 form factor with PCIe 5.0 connectivity. SanDisk lists capacities from 960GB to 7.68TB, with the 1.92TB model rated at up to 14,900MB/s sequential read and 13,200MB/s sequential write. The company also says the 3.84TB version can reach up to 2.3 million random read IOPS and 2 million random write IOPS, while the 7.68TB model carries an endurance rating of up to 14PBW. SanDisk adds that the drive has been tested for compatibility with many leading NAS systems that support M.2 2280.
The launches are notable because they underline how NAS storage is splitting into two distinct needs: one for stable, affordable SATA drives that prioritise reliability, and another for PCIe 5.0 SSDs that can absorb much heavier workloads. Jagat Review reported that the new drives have already appeared on SanDisk Indonesia’s website, although they are not yet officially on sale in the country. Pricing starts at $179 for the NAS 600 and $309 for the NAS 800, according to the company and local reporting.
