SanDisk’s official Switch 2 storage card drops to €49.90

The officially licensed 256GB SanDisk microSD Express card is now close to its lowest price, offering Switch 2 owners a way to expand storage without deleting games.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners who want to expand storage without constantly deleting games now have another reason to consider a microSD Express card. Xataka Selección says SanDisk’s officially licensed 256GB model has fallen to €49.90 from €59.99, a modest discount that still brings it close to its lowest price so far.

The key point is compatibility. Standard microSD cards from the original Switch do not work in Nintendo’s newer console, which uses the faster microSD Express standard instead. That shift matters because the new format is designed to support quicker game loading and installation, making it the only practical choice for anyone planning to build a sizeable digital library.

The 256GB capacity on offer is also notable because it effectively doubles the internal storage of the Switch 2, giving players more room for modern games and save data. Tom’s Hardware recently highlighted the same SanDisk card at £44.99 in the UK, while other guides have pointed out that Nintendo supports microSD Express cards of up to 2TB, leaving room for much larger options if this capacity proves too small.

Price-wise, the SanDisk card is not a dramatic bargain, but that is typical of the category. Digital Citizen reported a recent US price of $153.99 for the 512GB version, down from $199.99, and The Revision noted a Prime Big Deal Days reduction to $129.99. Together, those deals suggest that Switch 2 storage cards are becoming more frequently discounted, even if they remain relatively expensive compared with older microSD products.
