Shokz has unveiled the OpenFit Air 2, a lightweight open-ear wireless earbud designed for active users, offering a secure fit, fuller sound, and robust features including AI noise reduction and long battery life.
Shokz has unveiled the OpenFit Air 2, a new pair of open-ear wireless earbuds aimed squarely at runners, gym users and anyone who wants audio that does not seal off the outside world. The company says the model is built to combine a secure fit with a lightweight frame and open-ear listening, making it easier to hear music and surroundings at the same time. According to Shokz, the design is intended for active use as well as day-to-day wear.
The OpenFit Air 2 uses Shokz’s dual Bassphere driver system, which the brand says is designed to deliver fuller bass and a wider soundstage than a typical open-ear earbud. Four preset equaliser modes are included: Standard, Vocal, Bass and Private. Shokz also says the earbuds use its OpenBass 2.0 tuning approach, while the open design is paired with an over-ear hook for added stability during exercise.
At 7.2g per earbud, the OpenFit Air 2 are described by Shokz as the lightest ear-hook earbuds it has made so far. The model carries IP55 certification for protection against dust, sweat and splashes, and uses skin-friendly materials with a flexible nickel-titanium frame, according to retail listings and product materials. The earphones also include pressure-sensitive controls, which are meant to reduce accidental taps during movement.
For calls, Shokz says the OpenFit Air 2 combines a dual-microphone setup with AI noise reduction to improve voice clarity in noisy environments. Battery life is rated at up to eight hours per charge, or up to 36 hours including the case, with a 10-minute top-up promising about three hours of playback. The earbuds also support Bluetooth Multipoint, Fast Pair and Swift Pair, and will be sold in Black, White and Ice Blue for £129 in the UK and $129.95 in the US.
