Switch 2 storage upgrade drops to ¥39,980 as 1TB microSD Express card hits Prime Day sale

Nextorage’s 1TB G Series EX microSD Express card is available at an 8% discount on Amazon Japan, offering Switch 2 owners substantially more space for an expanding library of large games.

Nextorage’s 1TB microSD Express card is being sold on Amazon Japan as part of the Prime Day promotion for ¥39,980, a discount of 8%, with the offer scheduled to run until 23:59 on 19 October. The timing matters because the card is positioned for Nintendo Switch 2 owners who want to avoid running into storage limits as game sizes rise. Amazon’s listing also frames the product as a practical upgrade for players who prefer to keep a larger library installed rather than deleting titles to free space.

The card sits in Nextorage’s G Series EX range and is designed around the SD Express standard, which uses PCIe and NVMe rather than the older UHS-I approach. Nextorage has said the series can reach peak read speeds of 880MB/s, far beyond conventional microSD cards and fast enough to reduce loading times in compatible devices. The company first announced development of its microSD Express line in June 2024, saying it intended to target next-generation gaming, imaging and industrial uses with PCIe-based storage.

Nextorage later expanded the line for consumers, with 512GB and 1TB versions launched in September 2025 and 128GB and 256GB variants added in June 2025. The company says the cards are compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 and have been validated for that use. It also claims the products have passed 10 durability checks, including water resistance and dust resistance, which is intended to make them more suitable for travel and repeated handling.

For Switch 2 users, the appeal is straightforward: the console’s built-in storage is 256GB, so a few large modern games can consume a substantial share of that space. A 1TB card gives far more headroom for digital purchases, updates and save data, and reduces the need to manage installed games constantly. Nextorage also backs the product with a five-year warranty, which may help reassure buyers considering a premium-priced storage upgrade.
