Synology unveils budget-friendly DiskStation neo+ series to tap into UAE’s booming cloud storage market

Synology launches its DiskStation neo+ series in the UAE, offering cost-effective storage solutions amid growing cloud demand and market growth projections, with models featuring enhanced scalability and networking options.

Synology has launched its DiskStation neo+ series in the United Arab Emirates, positioning the line as a lower-cost route for organisations that want stronger storage performance without moving immediately to higher-end hardware. The release comes as demand for cloud services and related storage infrastructure continues to expand in the UAE, with a specialist report cited by the company in May valuing the country’s cloud market at about $6.15 billion and forecasting growth to $9.34 billion by 2032.

The new range includes the DS1825neo+, DS1525neo+, DS925neo+ and DS725neo+. Synology says the series is built on its DiskStation Plus platform but ships with 4GB of standard DDR4 SODIMM memory that is non-ECC, or non-error-correcting, in order to reduce the starting cost. The company will continue to sell the standard DiskStation Plus models alongside the new line, giving customers a wider set of pricing and configuration options.

On the hardware side, the neo+ models include built-in M.2 slots for SSD caching, 2.5GbE networking and expansion support through the DX525 unit. The DS1825neo+ and DS1525neo+ also provide PCIe 3.0 slots for optional 10GbE and 25GbE network cards. Synology says the memory path is designed to scale to 32GB as workloads grow, which is aimed at users that expect to add devices, users or backup loads over time.

The series runs on Synology DiskStation Manager, which bundles file sharing, synchronisation, backup and surveillance tools in one operating system. Synology Drive turns the NAS into a private cloud for remote access and cross-site synchronisation, while Active Backup Suite protects Windows, Linux and macOS systems, virtual machines and cloud accounts. Surveillance Station adds local video recording for multi-site security deployments. Synology says the new line is already available in the UAE through its distribution channels.
