Tama Denshi Kogyo unveils a new range of quasi-solid-state lithium-ion power banks, emphasising enhanced safety and durability, with models supporting high wattage and multiple device charging.
Tama Denshi Kogyo has launched a six-model mobile battery range built around quasi-solid-state lithium-ion cells, a design that the company says is intended to improve safety while also extending service life. The line-up is split across 10,000mAh, 15,000mAh and 20,000mAh capacities, with black and white finishes for each version.
The key distinction of the series is the use of a gel-based electrolyte, which the company says helps reduce fire risk compared with conventional liquid-based cells. Similar products from other Japanese manufacturers have also been positioned around the same idea: Yamazen, for example, has marketed quasi-solid-state batteries as a safer option for smartphones, tablets and USB-C laptops, while Elecom has highlighted a cycle life of about 2,000 charges and a broad operating temperature range for its own semi-solid model.
Tama Denshi Kogyo is also leaning on practical design features. Each model includes a built-in USB-C cable, a display for checking remaining charge, and protection against overcurrent and overvoltage. The batteries can charge up to three devices at once through a combination of USB-C cable, USB-C port and USB-A port. This mirrors a broader trend in the category, as OWLTECH has released a quasi-solid-state battery with an integrated USB-C lead, a digital display and multi-device charging support.
The 10,000mAh model is rated at up to 45W over USB-C, enough for many phones, tablets and some USB-C notebooks. The 15,000mAh and 20,000mAh versions go further, offering up to 67W, which places them in the range needed for business laptops and other higher-demand devices. That aligns with other recent quasi-solid-state battery launches in Japan, including Yamazen’s higher-output models, as manufacturers try to combine portability with enough power for mobile work.
According to the company’s announcement, the batteries will be sold through electronics retailers and home centres. The series starts at 7,980 yen for the 10,000mAh model, rises to 10,800 yen for the 15,000mAh version, and is priced at 12,800 yen for the 20,000mAh unit.
