Twelve South reimagines its Valet charging tray with a compact, higher-powered upgrade

Twelve South introduces a smaller, more stylish version of its popular Valet charging tray, boosting wireless power and fitting seamlessly into limited spaces, offering a practical upgrade for clutter-free bedside setups.

Twelve South has trimmed down its Valet charging tray for people who liked the original idea but did not have the spare space. The new compact version keeps the same basic formula , a leather-lined catch-all with a wireless charging pad , but cuts the depth sharply, making it easier to fit on a crowded bedside table or narrow desk. According to Engadget, that smaller footprint appears to be the main reason for the new model’s existence, and it arrives at a lower price than the larger version.

The design still leans heavily on the kind of polish that has helped Twelve South build a following. The tray is wrapped in Nappa leather and uses a weighted metal base, while the charging surface supports Qi2 magnetic wireless charging for compatible phones. The original Valet, unveiled at CES 2026, was priced at $179.99 and was positioned as a premium home for everyday items such as a phone, watch, ring or earbuds. The compact version keeps the same tidy, furniture-like feel while making the product more practical for smaller spaces.

That refinement extends to the charging setup. Engadget reported that the smaller model boosts wireless charging to 25W, above the 15W ceiling of the earlier version, and still includes a USB-C port for a second device. Twelve South has not built in Apple Watch charging, so users will still need to connect their own charging puck or accessory through that port. The tray also keeps the hidden cable-routing details that help it sit neatly on a surface without turning into a tangle of wires.

For some buyers, it will still be a luxury rather than a necessity. But for anyone who wants one compact object to corral clutter and charge a phone at the same time, the smaller Valet looks like a more convincing fit than the original. Twelve South’s latest move suggests the company has recognised that the appeal of the product depended not just on the idea, but on whether it could disappear into the room without dominating it.
