Ugreen launches a compact, versatile 65W GaN travel adapter with a 360-degree rotating plug, allowing seamless switching among US, UK, European, and Australian outlet types, highlighting advances in compact design and thermal management.
Ugreen has introduced a 65W GaN travel adapter that replaces the usual slide-out or detachable plug system with a rotating mechanism. With a simple twist, the prongs switch between US, UK, European and Australian configurations. According to Gizmochina and other reports on the launch, the adapter is priced at 169 yuan, or about $25, and is being offered for pre-order in China before wider sale starts on 29 September.
The charger is built for international use, with an input range of 100V to 240V and claimed compatibility with outlets in more than 200 countries. Its output section includes two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. Ugreen says a single USB-C connection can deliver the full 65W, enough for compact laptops such as the MacBook Air, while the USB-A port tops out at 22.5W. When several devices are connected at once, power is distributed across the ports under PD and PPS charging rules.
The move to gallium nitride, or GaN, has allowed Ugreen to shrink the unit to 54.9mm by 52mm by 52mm and keep weight down to 158g. Several reports say the new model is around 59 per cent smaller than the company’s earlier S550 adapter. Ugreen also says the body uses flame-retardant polycarbonate, while the lower centre of gravity and adjusted plug angle are intended to help keep the charger seated more firmly in older or worn wall sockets.
The company’s own product listing also frames the adapter as a four-in-one travel solution, covering the main plug types used in the US, Europe, the UK and Australia. It says the device can charge several items at once and includes protection against short circuits, overvoltage, overheating and overcurrent. Taken together, the launch points to a category where compact design, plug versatility and thermal management are becoming as important as raw charging speed.
