UGREEN's Nexode Pro 160W charger simplifies travel with integrated cable and high power output

UGREEN unveils the Nexode Pro 160W charger, featuring an all-in-one design with an integrated retractable USB-C cable and multiple ports, aiming to reduce the accessories travellers carry without compromising on power or versatility.

UGREEN’s Nexode Pro 160W charger is built around a simple idea: reduce what you carry. The company has paired a high-output GaN charger with an integrated retractable USB-C cable, so users can leave one accessory behind without giving up multi-device charging. According to UGREEN’s product listing, the unit combines a built-in cable with two further USB-C ports and a USB-A port, delivering a combined output of 160W.

In practical terms, that makes it a more travel-friendly option than a desktop-style charger, even if it is not especially small. The design is still blocky, but the retractable cable is its main advantage. UGREEN says that cable supports up to 140W, which is enough for many laptops as well as tablets and phones. The remaining USB-C port is rated at up to 100W, while the USB-A port reaches 22.5W, giving the charger enough flexibility for a bag full of devices.

There is, however, a trade-off. The retractable mechanism adds convenience, but it also introduces a potential weak point over time. That concern is not unique to this model; TechRadar made a similar point in its review of UGREEN’s retractable-cable chargers, noting that the integrated approach is useful but inherently more complex than a standard fixed-cable setup. The same review also found the built-in cable highly practical in day-to-day use.

UGREEN has also added a display and companion app, although the usefulness of both is less clear. The screen is meant to show charging status and can switch to a clock and wallpaper mode, but the control method is limited and not immediately obvious. The company presents the app and display as part of a smarter charging experience, yet for many buyers they may feel more like extras than essentials.

On safety, UGREEN says the charger includes protection against overheating, overvoltage, overcurrent and short circuits, with the housing made from flame-retardant material. B&H Photo lists the charger as a compact four-port GaN model intended for phones, tablets and laptops, while UGREEN also markets it as suitable for travel thanks to a foldable US plug. The result is a product aimed at users who want one charger to cover a laptop and smaller devices, provided they are comfortable with the added bulk and the integrated-cable design.
