Ulanzi’s DC01 transforms field media management with fast, portable dual-slot card storage

Ulanzi has launched the DC01, a compact device combining memory card storage with an integrated reader, designed to streamline on-location media transfer for photographers and videographers.

Ulanzi has launched the DC01, a compact 2-in-1 accessory that combines memory card storage with an integrated reader. For photographers and videographers working in the field, the appeal is straightforward: keep cards protected in one place, then plug straight into a phone, laptop or other device without carrying a separate reader. The device is aimed at exactly the sort of run-and-gun workflow where speed and organisation matter. According to Ulanzi and retailer listings, it is built around a folder-like, pocketable form factor with a magnetic closure.

The DC01 supports one UHS-II SDXC slot and one UHS-II microSDXC slot, while also holding up to four SD cards and four microSD cards in total. Ulanzi says the integrated USB-C cable supports transfer speeds of up to 312 MB/s, which puts it in line with UHS-II performance rather than slower legacy card readers. News Shooter reported that the unit uses a USB 3.1 controller and is compatible with UHS-II and SD 4.0 high-speed cards, with support for simultaneous access to SD and TF cards.

At 61g, according to News Shooter, the DC01 is designed for portability rather than desk use. That makes it suitable for camera bags, drone kits and action-camera rigs, where loose media can easily get lost or damaged. Ulanzi also says the soft silicone card slots are intended to keep cards secure during transport, while the case format adds a basic layer of protection that a bare reader does not provide.

The result is not a radical reinvention of card storage, but it is a sensible consolidation of several common tasks into one accessory. For hybrid shooters who regularly move footage between cameras, mobile devices and computers, the DC01 reduces the number of items to carry and shortens the path from capture to backup. B&H Photo also lists the device as a practical option for photographers and videographers seeking faster media handling on location.
