The USB-C standard is rapidly expanding beyond smartphones and laptops, now powering a range of practical tools, chargers, and portable power devices, making everyday tasks more convenient and streamlined.
USB-C has become the default connector for a wide range of consumer devices, and that shift is now extending well beyond phones and laptops. On Amazon, a growing number of practical tools and accessories now rely on the same reversible port for charging, data transfer or both, which makes them easier to keep powered with fewer proprietary leads. SlashGear’s roundup focuses on items that are useful rather than novelty purchases, ranging from workshop lighting to handheld fastening tools and compact backup power.
Among the more useful examples is the DeWalt LED task light, which SlashGear says delivers up to 1,000 lumens and recharges in about 75 minutes through USB-C. The light is designed for hands-free work, with a magnetic back and a hook for overhead placement, and it can run for as long as six hours on a charge. That makes it a straightforward option for repair jobs, late-night workspaces and other situations where portable illumination matters more than elaborate features.
Another tool highlighted by SlashGear is the Bielmeier staple gun and brad nailer, a cordless fastening tool that can fire up to 850 staple shots on a charge before needing power again through USB-C. The reported recharge time is about two hours. While it is not a heavy-duty construction tool, it is suited to upholstery, trim work and general DIY tasks where portability is more important than constant mains power. For buyers who want one charger standard across several tools, that compatibility is a practical advantage.
The broader USB-C ecosystem now includes charging gear that can reduce clutter as well as tools that need power. TechRadar reported a discount on the Anker Prime 200W six-port GaN charging station, which combines four USB-C ports and two USB-A ports in a compact desktop unit. Two of the USB-C ports can each deliver 100W, making the device suitable for charging laptops alongside phones, tablets and accessories. For anyone setting up a home office or workshop, that kind of multi-device charger can be more useful than a drawer full of mixed adapters.
Portable battery products are also part of the same trend. Android Central reported a price cut on Anker’s PowerCore 10K, a 10,000mAh power bank with USB-C and USB-A wired charging, plus Qi wireless charging. Its USB-C port supports 18W fast charging and two-way charging, so it can both top up devices and recharge itself through the same port. TechRadar also noted a deal on the Jackery Explorer 240D, a 256Wh portable power station with three USB-C ports and one USB-A port, including up to 140W from a single port. That sort of capacity moves USB-C from a convenience feature into a serious off-grid power option for cameras, laptops, drones and phones.
The smallest USB-C accessories may be the most convenient of all. Android Central highlighted several 100W USB-C cables priced under $10, showing how the standard has become cheap enough to use almost everywhere without much penalty. Tom’s Guide, meanwhile, reported on Nomad’s ChargeKey, a keychain-sized USB-C cable that is intended for emergency charging and file transfer, with the newer version supporting up to 240W charging and 10Gbps data speeds. Together, these products show why USB-C has become so dominant: one standard now covers fast charging, data, portable power and everyday utility with far less fuss than older connector systems.
