Align Technology announced plans to open its first manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, expected to create over 300 jobs and enhance the company’s global supply chain for Invisalign products, marking a significant step in its regional growth strategy.
Align Technology plans to open its first manufacturing facility in India in Hyderabad next year, a move the company says will create more than 300 direct jobs and involve about $200 million in capital and operating spending over several years. The site is due to begin operations in 2027 and would become the company’s fourth manufacturing facility worldwide, extending a footprint that already includes a global capability centre and an innovation centre in the city.
The expansion is part of Align’s effort to bring production closer to faster-growing markets and to make its supply chain more resilient, according to the company. Align said the new plant will support its aligner fabrication and treatment planning work while improving service for doctors and patients. The company also said the project is intended to strengthen operational efficiency and add value for shareholders.
In a statement carried by Align’s newsroom, Jitse Marrée, executive vice president of global operations, said India is an important growth market and described Hyderabad as a strong location because of its talent base, infrastructure and innovation ecosystem. JunHo Han, executive vice president and managing director for Asia Pacific, said the investment reflects a longer-term push across the region and should improve local support for Invisalign-trained doctors and their patients.
The investment follows a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government, according to reporting by HealthcareMEA, The Economic Times and other industry outlets. Those reports said the facility will reinforce Hyderabad’s standing as a life sciences and medical technology hub. Align, best known for Invisalign clear aligners, iTero intraoral scanners and exocad CAD/CAM software, said its digital dentistry platform now serves about 299,500 doctor customers and has helped treat roughly 22.8 million patients over the past 29 years.
