Boox gears up for a new wave of Android-based E Ink devices with four models slated for release this year

Boox is reportedly developing four new Android-powered E Ink devices, including the Palma 3 and Note Air6 C, with launches expected around October, signalling a significant expansion in their e-reader and tablet range.

Boox is reportedly preparing a fresh wave of Android-based E Ink devices, with four models said to be in development this year: the Palma 3, Note Air6 C, Tab Elite and Note Mini C. Good e-Reader says the upcoming range excludes the Picco, a 4-inch reader that Boox already announced in July, and suggests the new devices could surface around October, which has been a familiar launch window for the company in recent years.

The Palma 3 is expected to succeed the Palma 2, which arrived in October 2024. According to the reports, Boox will keep the smartphone-style format while moving to a newer Carta 1300 ePaper panel and a faster processor. Any major memory upgrade appears less likely, given wider component shortages, although the device is still expected to avoid a downgrade in RAM.

The Note Air6 C is said to follow the Note Air 5 C, even though that model has only been on sale for a matter of months. The current Note Air line is built around a 10.3-inch E Ink panel, stylus input and Android, with the existing generation already running Android 15 and adding keyboard-cover support for more desktop-like use. If the next model does ship with Android 16, as the report suggests, that could bring further refinements to performance and multitasking.

The other two names remain more speculative. The Tab Elite is described as a new high-end Tab-series device, potentially aimed at users who want a larger productivity screen and a closer alternative to a laptop. The Note Mini C may replace the now-discontinued Tab Mini C from 2023, with a colour E Ink display and pen support likely if the naming holds true. At this stage, Boox has not confirmed specifications or launch dates.
