Forbes forecasts that Apple is likely to unveil its new iPhone 18 Pro during a September event on the 9th, with the device expected to go on sale on the 18th, following a traditional midweek product launch pattern.
Forbes has projected that Apple will unveil its next major iPhone at a September event this year, with Wednesday, September 9, emerging as the most likely date for the keynote and Friday, September 18 as the expected on-sale date for the iPhone 18 Pro. The magazine’s analysis is based on Apple’s long-running habit of staging its autumn product launches in a narrow calendar window and avoiding the day immediately after Labour Day in the United States.
The report, by David Phelan, said Apple has historically preferred a midweek launch that gives journalists and industry guests enough time to travel. That has helped narrow the likely keynote date to September 9, even though some observers had previously pointed to Tuesday, September 8. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman was among those who had initially leaned towards the earlier date before later backing Wednesday as the more probable choice.
Forbes also argued that Apple is likely to announce the event on Wednesday, August 26, following the company’s recent pattern of giving two weeks’ notice rather than the one-week lead time it used in earlier years. The timing would also keep the announcement clear of the IFA technology trade fair in Berlin, which opens in early September and often competes for attention in the consumer electronics calendar.
Tom’s Guide separately reported that Gurman has indicated the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a foldable model often described as the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold could all be introduced at Apple’s September showcase. The outlet said this remains a forecast rather than a confirmed schedule, and Apple has not yet announced the event or the product line-up. If the company follows its usual post-keynote cadence, the phones would reach stores 10 days later, although the foldable model may follow a different release path.
Apple’s September events have become central to its product cycle because they set the tone for holiday sales and signal the company’s direction in hardware design and pricing. Forbes noted that the 2023 iPhone launch helped frame market expectations in a period of softer smartphone demand, while Apple’s occasional departures from its normal timetable, such as the October 2023 event, show that the company can still break pattern when it chooses.
