Leaked images and reports suggest Google’s upcoming Pixel Watch 5 will introduce incremental design updates, AI-driven features, and expanded colour choices, as the tech giant gears up for its latest wearable launch.
Google’s next smartwatch appears close to its debut, with fresh leaks painting a fairly consistent picture of the Pixel Watch 5. Reports from several technology sites suggest the new model will keep the familiar round, minimalist design of the current watch, while adding a small set of hardware and software refinements rather than a radical redesign.
According to leaked marketing images published by T3, the watch looks much like its predecessor and is expected to lean heavily on Google’s Gemini AI platform. The same leak points to a smart alarm that times wake-up more intelligently during sleep cycles, plus an AI Coach designed to analyse user patterns and produce more personalised guidance. Health features are also expected to remain central, including blood oxygen monitoring, atrial fibrillation detection, sleep tracking and heart rate variability analysis.
Pricing rumours have converged around a starting figure of about $399 for the Wi-Fi model, according to PhoneArena and 9to5Google, although LTE versions are likely to cost more. Those reports also say the watch should arrive in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with 32GB of storage and Wear OS 7. TechRadar reported a slightly different size combination, citing 42mm and 45mm variants, which suggests some of the pre-launch information is still in flux.
Colour options appear to be expanding. Leaks gathered by TechRadar, Gadgets 360 and 9to5Google point to finishes such as Dark Anthracite, Natural Silver, Pyrite and Warm Gold, alongside new watch faces and a Gemini shortcut on the display. Android Central also reported that the Pixel Watch 5 has already appeared in the Google Health app’s device list, a sign that internal support for the wearable may already be in place even if the public launch is still pending.
If the leaked material proves accurate, the Pixel Watch 5 looks set to be an evolutionary update: familiar on the outside, more AI-driven on the inside, and still anchored to the same health-tracking pitch that has defined Google’s wearables strategy. For buyers, the main questions are likely to be whether the promised software gains justify the expected price rise and whether Google can finally narrow the gap with more established smartwatch rivals.
