Tech giant Google prepares to launch its new Pixel 11 series on August 12, featuring four models, substantial display and camera improvements, and a fresh design language amid rising prices and leaks revealing key specifications.
Google is expected to use its August 12 Made by Google event to unveil the Pixel 11 family, with reports pointing to four models: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google has already begun teasing the devices, while leaks have filled in much of the remaining picture ahead of the launch. The event keynote is due to start at 3pm PT, and pre-orders are said to open the same day. TechRadar says the new face-down notification feature may be branded “HiLight”, while Google’s own teasers have pointed towards a new Pixel Glow lighting system on the rear of the phones.
Pricing appears likely to rise modestly across the range. Gadgets 360 reports that the Pixel 11 could start at $899 in the US and €999 in Europe, with the Pixel 11 Pro at $1,099, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299 and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at $1,899. Android Central says the base model may ship with 256GB of storage, which would help explain the higher entry price if Google drops a lower-capacity version.
Design leaks suggest that Google will keep the familiar Pixel language while refining the details. The standard Pixel 11 is expected in Fuchsia, Light Sterling, Moss and Midnight Haze, while the Pro models may arrive in Dune, Light Fog, Midnight Haze and Pine. The foldable is said to keep a similar outline to its predecessor, with an 8-inch inner display, a slim hinge and a horizontal camera bar. TechAdvisor adds that Google may also use bear-themed codenames internally, including “cubs” for the Pixel 11 and “yogi” for the Fold.
The display and performance upgrades are expected to be more substantial. According to the leaked specifications, the Pixel 11 should get a 6.3-inch Actua OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, while the Pro model may use a higher-end Super Actua LTPO panel with greater brightness. The Pro XL is tipped to have a 6.8-inch display, and the Fold may pair an 8-inch inner screen with a 6.4-inch cover display. Across the range, Google is expected to use the Tensor G6 chipset with the Titan M3 security coprocessor and Android 17. PhoneArena says the chip may be built on a 2nm process, although that detail remains unconfirmed.
Camera hardware is also set for a wider split between the standard and Pro tiers. Gadgets 360 says the Pixel 11 may keep a dual-camera system with a 48-megapixel main sensor and 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, while the Pro and Pro XL are expected to use a triple-camera array with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens with macro support and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The Pro Fold is tipped to have a similar mix tailored for the folding form factor. Battery claims point to 4,985mAh for the Pixel 11, 4,850mAh for the Pro, 5,115mAh for the Pro XL and 4,806mAh for the Fold, with Qi2 wireless charging across the line and faster 45W wired charging reserved for the Pro XL.
