Google’s upcoming Made by Google event on August 12 promises a comprehensive refresh of its Pixel lineup, featuring the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro Fold, and new accessories, signalling a strategic shift in design and ecosystem integration.
Google’s next Made by Google event is now fixed for August 12 in New York, and the company is expected to use the stage to refresh almost its entire premium Pixel hardware line-up. The spotlight should fall on the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, with Google also expected to show a new Pixel Watch 5 and possibly other devices or software updates. The timing is important: Google has confirmed the event for 6 p.m. ET, while pre-orders are expected to open earlier that day, according to countdown listings on Google Store and Best Buy.
The most familiar part of the launch may also be the least surprising. Leaks suggest Google is keeping the general shape and feel of the Pixel 10 generation, while adding a new rear light feature variously described as HiLight or Pixel Glow. That light is expected to act as a visible cue for alerts and Gemini-related interactions, with the possibility that Google could also extend it to tasks such as charging and timer notifications. Android Central says the phones may be powered by a Tensor G6 chip built on TSMC’s 2nm process, paired with a MediaTek modem, while TechRadar reports that the base model could start at $899 and the Pro range may face price rises.
There are also signs that Google may be changing the economics of the line-up as much as the hardware. According to Android Central and TechRadar, base storage could rise to 256GB, which would partly soften any increase in entry pricing. At the same time, TechRadar says the standard Pixel 11 may lose its telephoto camera, while some Pro models could launch with 12GB of RAM rather than 16GB. If those reports prove accurate, the Pixel 11 range will represent a mix of meaningful upgrades and quiet trade-offs rather than a straightforward across-the-board improvement.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold appears to be another major focus. Google has already teased the foldable in a short video, and Tom’s Guide reports that pre-orders for the Pixel 11 family, including the Fold, are expected to begin on August 12 at 7 a.m. PT. The same report says retail availability could follow a week or two later, while pricing may climb by $100 to $200 from the previous model because of memory supply pressures. T3 also says Google’s own teaser and leaked marketing images point to a more polished foldable design, with a pill-shaped rear camera module and a new green colourway across parts of the Pixel range.
Beyond phones, the strongest case for watching closely may be the accessories and ecosystem updates. Android Central and T3 both point to a Pixel Watch 5 that keeps the same circular design while improving memory or battery capacity, and T3 says Pixel Buds Pro 2 may also appear in a new green finish. Google is also reported to be preparing Android XR smart glasses and a possible new laptop line, sometimes referred to as Googlebook, which could signal a broader effort to tie Android and ChromeOS more closely together. If Google follows through, the event may matter less for the devices people already expect and more for the platform changes that sit behind them.
