Retailers across India are combining exchange bonuses, bank offers, and retailer incentives to slash the effective price of the iPhone 17 to below ₹50,000, as the market prepares for the upcoming iPhone 18 launch in September.
Apple’s iPhone 17 has slipped well below its original India launch price, with effective deals taking the base model under ₹50,000 for buyers able to stack exchange bonuses, bank offers and retailer incentives. The phone entered the market in September 2025 at ₹82,900 for the 256GB version, so the current pricing represents a steep reduction, although not a simple sticker-price cut. Rather, it is the result of multiple promotions applied together across retail channels.
Retailers are using trade-ins to drive the headline reduction. A customer exchanging an older iPhone or another eligible smartphone can receive a base valuation that varies by model and condition, while current sale periods are adding extra bonuses of roughly ₹3,000 to ₹10,000, depending on the device category. Banks are also offering instant discounts and cashback, typically worth about ₹1,000 to ₹6,000, on selected cards and payment methods.
The sharpest publicised deals have come from large chains. Reliance Digital’s “All About Apple” campaign has listed the iPhone 17 at an effective ₹51,990, while another Reliance Digital promotion has put the starting effective price at ₹57,990 with card discounts, no-cost EMI for up to 24 months and exchange benefits as high as ₹23,000. Croma’s “Everything Apple” sale has gone further, with some configurations falling to an effective ₹44,768 after combining exchange value, bank discounts and reward benefits.
The discounting reflects a familiar pre-refresh pattern, with retailers clearing stock ahead of the iPhone 18 launch expected in September. That has created a narrow window in which consumers can buy Apple’s latest standard model at a far lower effective cost, provided they can meet the conditions attached to the offers. The iPhone 17 itself remains a premium device, with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, Apple’s A19 chip, 8GB of RAM, a 48-megapixel dual rear camera system and eSIM-only support in India.
