iPronics secures $125 million to accelerate AI-dedicated optical networking deployment

Spanish photonics company iPronics raises $125 million in Series B funding to expand its optical networking technology tailored for AI data centres, with plans to scale operations and enhance GPU efficiency.

iPronics has raised $125 million in Series B funding as the Spanish photonics company looks to push its optical networking technology deeper into AI infrastructure. The round was co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital, with NVIDIA also taking part alongside Triatomic Capital, Bosch Ventures, Catalight Capital and the European Innovation Council Fund, according to the company and investor statements.

The financing lifts iPronics’ total funding to $177 million. The company previously closed a $21 million Series A round in January 2025. It plans to use the new capital to scale operations and speed up commercial deployment of its Optical Networking Engine, a programmable optical switching platform designed for AI data centres.

Chief executive Christian Dupont said the investment would help the company accelerate commercialisation and supply the scale customers need to widen adoption while allowing data centres to use GPUs more efficiently. iPronics said it is also expanding its US presence by opening an office in Santa Clara, California, and recruiting for product strategy, customer deployment and AI infrastructure partnership roles.

Founded in 2019 as a spin-out from Universitat Politècnica de València, iPronics began shipping its first programmable photonic microchips in 2023. The company has already built partnerships with Ansys and Vodafone, and it participates in industry groups including the Open Compute Project and the Optical Internetworking Forum. Alongside the funding, Manish Muthal of Maverick Silicon and Geoffrey Tate, an adviser to Light Street Capital, are set to join the board, while Young Sohn of Catalight Capital will become an adviser.
