Chinese smartphone manufacturer iQOO plans to launch the Neo 11 Ultra and Z11s featuring unprecedented battery capacities, signalling a strategic shift towards endurace-focused devices amid a market rapidly valuing battery life for gamers and streamers.
iQOO is moving further into the battery arms race with two phones that could appeal to users who care more about endurance than slimness. Reports out of China suggest the company is preparing the Neo 11 Ultra and the Z11s for launch on August 18, with the Z11s drawing the most attention because it is said to carry a 10,000mAh battery.
That figure, if confirmed, would put the handset in unusual territory for a mainstream smartphone. It would also reflect a wider shift in the market, where battery capacity is becoming as important as chip performance and camera hardware for buyers who game, stream video and spend long hours away from a charger.
The Neo 11 Ultra appears to be aimed at the upper end of the performance market. Leaks indicate a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, a 2K display and 100W fast charging, with battery capacity reported at about 9,100mAh. Much of that specification list remains unconfirmed, so it should be treated as provisional rather than final.
Earlier reports have pointed to a related Neo 11S model as well, with a 2K OLED screen running at 144Hz, a Dimensity 9500-series chip and 16GB of RAM listed in a Geekbench entry. Subsequent leaks suggested a battery larger than 8,000mAh, 100W charging and extras such as IP68/IP69 resistance and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
If iQOO does go ahead with the Z11s and Neo 11 Ultra in this form, it would underline how aggressively the company is pushing battery life as a differentiator. That strategy would not be entirely new. iQOO already launched the Z11 globally in May with a 9,020mAh battery, a 144Hz AMOLED display and 90W charging, showing that very large cells are now part of its broader product direction.
The chipset choice is also notable. The Dimensity 9500 is expected to sit at the centre of iQOO’s next performance push, and the Neo line has long been positioned around speed and gaming. A model with a 2K display, rapid charging and a battery above 9,000mAh would therefore fit neatly into that brief, even if the final retail specifications are still to be confirmed.
For Indian buyers, however, the immediate picture remains unclear. The reported launch date relates to China, not India, and there is no firm timetable yet for a local release. For now, the more important takeaway is that iQOO seems to be testing how far it can stretch the definition of a high-performance phone without forcing users to choose between speed, screen quality and battery life.
