Lenovo expands its Android tablet line in Vietnam with two matte-screen models designed to support students and younger users, emphasising portability, AI features, and a paper-like display to improve study and entertainment experiences.
Lenovo has broadened its Android tablet line-up in Vietnam with two new matte-screen models aimed at students and younger users who want a device for study, note-taking and entertainment in one package. The Idea Tab Plus Matte Edition and Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Matte Edition both use anti-glare displays intended to improve visibility in bright environments and reduce eye strain during long reading or writing sessions. Lenovo says the devices are designed to support learning, collaboration and everyday use, while adding AI-based features and a lighter, slimmer form factor.
The launch fits with Lenovo’s wider argument that Gen Z users want tablets that are easy to carry, simple to use and capable of handling several tasks at once. In the company’s research, 94% of Gen Z students said a tablet is, or will be, useful across student life, while 89% said technology helps them feel more supported and better able to manage busy schedules. That emphasis on portability, productivity and media use reflects a broader trend in the tablet market, where value, battery life and bundled accessories often matter as much as raw performance. Reviewers of Lenovo’s existing Idea Tab range have generally praised the aluminium build, included stylus and balanced everyday performance, while also noting that these are not flagship-class devices.
Lenovo Vietnam managing director Nguyễn Văn Giáp said Gen Z expects technology to adapt to the way they study, create and communicate. He said the expanded Idea Tab range was shaped by feedback from younger users and was intended to deliver a more intelligent and personalised tablet experience through AI. The company’s messaging places the devices firmly in the role of study companions rather than pure entertainment tablets.
The Idea Tab Plus Matte Edition is the larger of the two. Lenovo says it weighs about 530g and is 6.29mm thick, making it easy to carry in a school bag or handbag. It has a 12.1-inch 2.5K matte display with 96% DCI-P3 colour coverage and up to 800 nits of brightness. Lenovo says the matte surface is intended to create a paper-like feel and reduce reflections, which should help when reading, writing or viewing documents for extended periods. Android Central’s hands-on coverage of a closely related Idea Tab Plus model described it as a budget-friendly 12.1-inch tablet with a 90Hz display, MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chip, 5G support and up to 12GB of RAM.
The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Matte Edition is positioned as the more capable study machine. Lenovo says it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Mobile Platform alongside its own AI tools, including Smarter Reader and Lenovo AI Notes, which are meant to summarise material, extract key points and record lectures in real time. A dedicated Smart Key on the 2-in-1 keyboard can trigger Lenovo Smart AI Input for text generation or instant translation. That feature set places the tablet in a growing category of AI-assisted student devices that aim to reduce friction in note-taking and research rather than replace a laptop entirely.
Both models are now on sale in Vietnam. Lenovo has set the starting prices at 9.890.000 đồng for the Idea Tab Plus Matte Edition and 15.990.000 đồng for the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Matte Edition. Each comes with a two-year carry-in warranty, which Lenovo says is intended to give buyers additional reassurance.
