Lenovo’s new Googlebook leaks suggest a mainstream device with versatile ports and revamped OS

Leaked images reveal Lenovo’s first Googlebook, hinting at a shift towards a new hybrid operating system and a more feature-rich ultrabook, ahead of expected announcements this year.

Lenovo’s first Googlebook has surfaced in fresh leaked images, adding to signs that Google’s next laptop platform is moving towards launch. The device appears to be part of a broader shift away from Chromebooks and towards a new operating system that blends ChromeOS and Android under the internal codename Aluminum OS, according to earlier reports.

The new images, shared by digitalcitizen and highlighted by Android Headlines, show a slim Lenovo machine in a light grey or off-white finish with very narrow display bezels. The design also appears to include a glowbar on the lid, a feature that has now been seen on both Lenovo’s and ASUS’s unreleased Googlebooks. TechRadar separately reported that the Lenovo Googlebook 15 also includes a notched display with a privacy webcam, a large trackpad and a keyboard with a dedicated Gemini key for direct access to Google’s AI assistant.

One of the most notable details is the port selection. Despite its thin profile, the laptop appears to carry HDMI, two USB-C ports, a USB-A port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. That is a more generous layout than many ultra-thin notebooks, and it suggests Lenovo is aiming for a mainstream device rather than an aggressively stripped-back portable.

The leaks also reinforce the idea that Lenovo will be among the first wave of Googlebook makers, alongside ASUS, Acer, Dell and HP. Reports from TechRadar and T3 say an announcement could come at Google’s Made by Google event on August 12, while other coverage points to a likely unveiling at IFA in September. The exact launch timing remains uncertain, but the pace of leaks indicates that Google’s laptop reboot is approaching a public debut.
